The mission of Our Water, Our Air, Our Rights is to help people protect their right to clean air, pure water, and to the preser- vation of the natural, scenic, historic and esthetic values of the environment. We acknowledge that Pennsylvania's public natural resources are the common property of all the people, including generations yet to come. Our Water, Our Air, Our Rights, through its educational programs and other actions, shall strive to preserve and protect these rights for the benefit of all the people.
Environmental issues
Our organization works on a variety of environmental issues as an organization in partnership with other organizations listed on our Partners page and through links to other individuals, groups and organizations througout our web site. Right now the most important issue facing all of us is climate change. Locally, the International Recycling Group, a collection of corporate and private investors, want to build a fully automated Plastics Recovery Facility in the City of Erie that will gather about 500 million pounds of plastic waste per year from cities and communities within a 750-mile radius and truck it into Erie for washing, sorting and flaking. Click IRG PROJECT for more information and questions about this. Since unconventional drilling or “fracking” is also a major contributor to climate change, it is another major focus for us. The following “Fracking 101” video should give you a basic idea of what fracking is all about. Press the “Fracking Defined” button for a more detailed description of fracking and its effects.
